The George and Dragon is a lively and stylish country inn with twelve bedrooms, all of which are upstairs. Each of our twelve bedrooms are different – individually designed with furniture and paintings from the Lowther family collection and each is a different size with different views. What they do have in common are comfortable beds, lovely linens and crewel work materials – they all have en suite bathrooms, some with roll top baths and some with walk in showers. The room rates listed below are based on two people sharing (double or twin). There is a discount on all room rates for single occupancy.
Deluxe rooms
The Lowther and Lonsdale rooms – the most luxurious at the far end of the building. The Lonsdale has a roll top bath in the bedroom with separate walk in shower room. The Lowther (can be a twin or double) has a bath and shower – a lovely light and quiet room.

Superior rooms
Four lovely and light superior rooms which all look out the front of the inn. Three of them with walk in showers and one with a lovely roll top bath.
Room rates – £125
Standard rooms
Slightly smaller but just as lovely. These five standard rooms have views over the back of the inn, most with walk in showers and one with a bath. Some are twin rooms.
Family rooms
Our main family room has a double bed and a single and an extra fold out bed is available for £25. A travel cot is available to use too.
Room rates – £135
If you and your family would like to stay in separate rooms but just next door, the Lonsdale and Lowther room can be booked as a family area – there is an outer door to the corridor.
Room rates include breakfast.*Please note that the standard rooms are very slightly affected by noise of the fans during operational hours only as please remember this is a busy working inn with a restaurant and bar.
